About Pride In Our Peers
We focus on equality
Ever since I was a kid, I knew I wanted to do something to help others. As I grew up and realized my identity and orientation, I knew that I wanted that work to be helping my LGBT+ community.
Then, in high school, I became one of our school's GSA (gender sexuality alliance) leaders. In our weekly meetings, I would hear stories of LGBT+ students being threatened and beaten up in the halls and, in the classroom, they would hear their peers throw around hurtful slurs while the teachers turned a deaf ear. We decided not to wait around for the school to do something about the bullying. That is how this presentation came to be.
I am thrilled to share our hard work with the schools and workplaces of this country.
If you are more interested in our story, I wrote a piece that goes more in-depth about the importance of Pride In Our Peers and how it was started.
